ArcaNS

The ArcaNS™, our flagship product line, are full service, turn key Enterprise Class storage devices that fuse all of our product features into one encompassing machine.  This hybrid appliance utilizes the full functionality of both our block-based ArcaSAN™ and file-based ArcaNAS™, in one all inclusive, comprehensive system.  However, we don't stop there, as there are several advanced features found only in these appliances.

Features

  •
  • NAS Functionality

In mere seconds, simply create and/or resize any number of Virtual Volumes with a simple click of your mouse button whenever needed for any division or department in your company.  Protect your data with scheduled automatic Snapshots to create regular point-in-time backups of your volumes.  A myriad of additional NAS functionalities include protocols such as Common Internet File System (CIFS/SMB), Network File System (NFS), File Transport Protocol (FTP/SFTP), Hypertext (HTTP), and Apple Talk.

  • SAN Functionality

The ArcaNS IP-SAN Target features includes advanced IP storage functionality such as the IP-Sec protocol to provide secure data transmission across the networks; multiple Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocols (CHAP) authentication schemes for each target to validate users and rights levels; Multi Path Input/Output (MPIO) Support to allow several simultaneous connections to any iSCSI target.

  •
  • Snapshot Images

Snapshot Copy provides an immediate point-in-time image of the Logical Volume (LV). The snapshot image can be used for both consistent and temporary backup, ensuring that users still have uninterrupted and complete access to the LV. Also, if a user accidentally deletes or incorrectly modifies a file, that file can be recovered from a previous snapshot image. IPLogx NAS/SAN OS supports "Multi-Snapshot with Scheduling" to create snapshots at predefined points in time (e.g. automatically every hour) further automating your backup processes.

  • Volume Replication for Disaster Recovery

IPLogx Volume Replication provides synchronous replication to copy critical company data to a secondary site in case of a disaster. IPLogx provides an extra layer of fault tolerance by mirroring two iSCSI and/or NAS (NFS) volumes. By allocating one volume as the primary data storage device and the second as a destination, data will synchronously be written to both volumes using a dedicated network connection. The primary volume(s) will be replicated in real time, so that the data will be available if the primary storage system becomes unavailable. This advanced protection is pre-configured with our Duo ArcaNS2, 6+, 10+ and 18 series appliances.

  •
  • Storage Management

The storage array is configured and managed directly through any local or remote web browser, as well as directly from the console.  Migrate RAID levels or add hard drives to expand LUN’s as needed, all without ever powering down.  Dual point notification via email is standard of any potential RAID issues such as a pending (via SMART) or failed drive.  SNMP monitoring of critical system components such as data throughput, and CPU/RAM usage are standard features.  There are no 2TB volume size limitations by the use of 64-bit LBA technology.

  • Secure User Authentication

IPLogx NAS/SAN OS supports Access Control Lists (ACL), Windows Active Directory Service (ADS), Primary Domain Controller (PDC), Network Information Services (NIS), internal/external Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and User-Group ID Synchronization to leverage information about users, groups, systems and other resources stored in the Active Directory.

  •
  • Secure Upgrades with Shadowing

To optimize the upgrading process of the IPLogx NAS/SAN OS software, the ArcaNS contains multiple shadow copies of the OS. In the event of an upgrade failure, the storage system can easily be switched to the former IPLogx software version.

  • Network Management

Networking capabilities include fault tolerant, adaptive load balancing, or link aggregation through port teaming/bonding of multiple Ethernet ports; DHCP, Proxy, or Manual configuration; Gateway support; and connections through GbE and 10GbE (with Intel® I/O AT & TOE support), 2-8Gb Fibre Channel, and Infiniband.
